Star Wars: Testament
-=prelude=-
"I am the senate."
"Not yet."
"...It's treason, then..."
----------------------------------------------------
Master Mace Windu held his violet lightsaber blade to the seemingly defeated Chancellor Palpatine with vigor, almost anger in his eyes "I am going to end this, once and for all!"
"You can't! He must stand trial!" Anakin Skywalker retorted, obviously desperate to save the weakened man.
"He has control of the Senate and the courts!" Windu states, looking to the confused Jedi Knight, "He's to dangerous to be kept alive!"
"I'm too weak and old! Don't kill me, please!" begs the Chancellor.
"It's not the Jedi way!" Skywalker demands, "He must live!"
The Jedi master pauses for what seems like eons, finally deactivating his lightsaber, "Your judgement is clouded, Skywalker, but you are correct in the matter that it is not the way of the Jedi to kill. He will be held in a high security holding cell within the temple, and the Council will conveign on what should be done."
"Yes, master," Anakin begins to state, until Palpatine surprisingly summons the power of the force to throw Master Windu into the dillusioned Jedi Knight, then jumping out of the window to the Coruscanti streets below. As the two men stand up, looking out of the office window, they see no trace of the Sith Lord.
"We will talk on this later, young Skywalker, as there are many things that must be discussed..." Windu states solemnly, a very disappointed look on his face.
----------------------------------------------------
"Grave news, this is," states Master Yoda, over the comm from Kashyyyk, "search vigorously for Palpatine, we must."

-=One week later=-
The Jedi Council chamber is still and silent, thinking on the deaths and funerals of the Masters that had died the night before. Mace Windu then stands before the council members, some of which are still called away for missions and battles.
"It is with remorse that I must remind all of you of the deaths of our colleagues, but I am honored to present our three new council members: T'ra Saa, Otama Kuhn-Sol, and Tsui Choi. May the force guide us in these troubled times."
Holo-transmissions of the three masters appeared in their seats, bowing their heads to their fellow council-members. This would be the start of a new beginning.
